William Sklaruk was born in New York City on 16 August 1921 to Mary (nee Jenick) and Romanian born father George Sklaruk. William had two siblings, a younger sister named Olga and an older brother named Samuel.
Mary died sometime prior to 1940, when the US census listed George as a widower. In the same census, William's occupation was listed as a delivery boy for a laundry.
On 21 February 1945, William enlisted in the US Military at the age of 23, joining the 69th Infantry Regiment. His marital status was recorded as single with no dependents.
His last known address was in Brooklyn, Kings, New York City.
William passed away on 24 December 1999 at the age of 77. He is buried in Harts Island Cemetery.
