Sherman Gripper

Sherman Richard Gripper was born February 1st, 1944 in Brooklyn to Benjamin "Bennie" Gripper(1915-1972), a painter, and Mary J. Gripper (Nee Jones)(1916-). Bennie was from South Carolina where his own father Edward "Eddie" Gripper(1887-1984) is laid to rest in Columbia. Mary was born in North Carolina and moved to New York with Sherman's widowed grandmother Amanda Jones(1890) as well as his Aunt  Marine(1925) and Uncle Ben(1923). Mr. Gripper passed away February 8th, 2006, just 7 days after his 62nd birthday, with ocean views at the Promenade Rehabilitation Center in Far Rockaway. He was survived by his sister Christine B. Roberts(Nee Gripper)(1946), her husband Douglas Roberts, and mother Mary.
