Robert Bowman was born May 4, 1917 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. He was the son of Matthew Bowman, who was of Scottish ancestry. He had at least one brother, Hugh, who lived in Los Angeles, California in 1952. Records of his border crossings between Canada and the United States list Robert's occupation variously as student, painter, and chemist. He attended the Central YMCA School in Chicago, Illinois. When in Canada, he gave his address as Vancouver, British Columbia. As of 1952 he still listed his marital status as single, and at that time stated his intention to reside permanantly in the U. S.
Robert Bowman died October 25, 2010, and at that time was living in Bronx, New York.
