Raymond J. Henneberry was born November 24, 1913 in Yonkers, New York, the son of Martin S. and Nora (Delaney) Henneberry. His parents were both immigrants from Northern Ireland, described in 1930 as the "Irish Free State." He had two sisters: Mary born around 1917, and Lillian, born about 1919. They also had a half-brother, Edward Delaney, born in 1909, the son of their mother and her first husband, Richard Delaney.

The family made their home in Yonkers, living first on Riverdale Avenue, in 1930 at 278 Hawthorne Avenue, and by 1940 at 54 Elliott Avenue. Their father, Martin, worked as an engineer in a sugar refinery, and later as a fireman engineer in the building construction field.

In 1940 Raymond was working as a stenographer for a political party. He enlisted in the National Guard on October 14, 1940, serving in the Hq. Bty. 207th Coast Artillery.

As an adult Raymond lived at 272 S. Broadway in Yonkers; and at 3260 Henry Hudson Pkwy. in the Bronx.

Raymond J. Henneberry died at the age of 88 on December 6, 2001, in the Hebrew Hospital Home. He was buried on Hart Island.
