Paula Vlachos was born September 10, 1934 in New York City at French Hospital. She was born Pauline A. Sclavakis, the daughter of Asimo and Nicholas Sclavakis. She was a spirited and exciting child who loved to play. Paula attended high school in Manhattan, focusing on business. She loved poetry and watching old, classic movies, especially Humphrey Bogart films, because Bogart reminded her of her father. Paula started working on Wall Street in the Exchange Commission. Her acumen proved itself over the years as she was promoted to the position of office manager. Paula wrote poetry and won poetry contests. Paula lived in Tampa, Florida for seven years, but always thought of New York City as her home, so she moved back, residing in Astoria the rest of her life. Paula is survived by her brother, James Sclavakis; her ex-husband and friend Tony Vlachos; her son, James Vlachos, grandchildren, great grand children, and nieces and nephews.
