Otto De Chirico (aka Ottavio De Chirico) was born on July 2, 1934, in Brooklyn, New York to Italian immigrant parents. His father, Gaetano, was 53 and his mother, Rosa D'Ingeo, was 40. Later in life he moved to Elmhurst, Queens, New York before entering the Assisted Living in the Bronx, New York.
Otto was the third youngest of 9 siblings (Domenic0, Rosina, Anna, Francesca, Joseph, Vincenzo, Francesco, Marie and Mateo). Otto was 13 years of age when his mother died of Luekemia, and 15 when his father died by a hit and run driver. Shortly after the death of his father, Otto joined the United States Army.
He married Rosemary Clark on August 24, 1953, in North Carolina. They have 3 daughters and 5 grandchildren.
Otto worked for the United States Postal Services and enjoyed writing poetry that he would share with family. In earlier years, Otto enjoyed family gatherings with his siblings on Saturday afternoons which often led to a poker game or watching the races on TV.
He died on April 18, 2020, in the Triboro Nursing Home located in the Bronx, New York, at the age of 85, and was buried at Hart Island on October 14, 2020.
