Myla Nunez February 27, 2023 – March 16, 2023 A tiny angel with a beautiful heart, loved beyond words and missed beyond measure. Though your time on earth was brief, your love changed us forever. Forever our daughter, forever our angel.

Myla’s Story

Myla’s story began at 39 weeks and 1 day, on February 27, 2023. After months of waiting, praying, dreaming, and imagining what life would be like with her, our beautiful baby girl finally arrived. The moment she was born, our hearts overflowed with love. She was tiny, precious, and absolutely perfect to us. Looking into her beautiful face for the first time was a moment we will treasure forever.

Her arrival made us a family of four. Her big sister, M was so excited to meet her baby sister. From the very beginning, Myla was deeply loved—not only by her parents and sister, but also by grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and everyone who had been eagerly waiting for her arrival.

Before Myla was born, we learned she had a rare congenital heart defect called transposition of the great arteries (TGA). While the diagnosis brought fear and uncertainty, it also filled us with determination and hope. We believed in her strength, trusted her medical team, and prayed every single day that she would overcome the challenges ahead.

Instead of bringing our newborn home right away, much of our time was spent in the hospital. The neonatal intensive care unit became the place where we celebrated each small victory. Every heartbeat, every peaceful nap, every tiny stretch of her fingers, every time we were able to hold her, kiss her forehead, or tell her how much we loved her became priceless memories.

Although she was only a newborn, Myla showed incredible courage. She endured more in just a few days than many people face in a lifetime. Her tiny body fought with remarkable strength, and she inspired everyone who cared for her. The doctors and nurses worked tirelessly, and we held onto hope as she prepared for the surgery that could repair her heart.

Our family prayed constantly. Friends, relatives, and even strangers lifted Myla up in prayer. We believed in miracles and hoped that one day we would walk out of the hospital together as a family.

On March 16, 2023, at just 17 days old, after undergoing heart surgery, our sweet Myla peacefully passed away.

Nothing could have prepared us for that moment. The silence that followed changed our lives forever. We left the hospital without our baby in our arms, carrying instead a grief that words cannot fully describe. The dreams we had imagined—watching her grow, hearing her laugh, celebrating birthdays, seeing her play with M, watching her start school, and witnessing all of life’s milestones—became dreams we now carry in our hearts.

But death did not end our love for Myla.

She is still our daughter. She will always be M little sister. She will always have a place at our family’s table, in our conversations, in our traditions, and in our hearts. We celebrate her birthday each year, speak her name with love, and share her story so the world will know she was here and that she mattered.

Myla taught us lessons that most people spend a lifetime learning. She taught us that love has no measure of time. She showed us the strength of faith, the beauty of hope, and the value of every single moment. Though her life lasted only 17 days, her love will last for generations.

Today, we continue to honor Myla by loving deeply, remembering faithfully, and making sure M grows up knowing that she has a sister whose life, though brief, was beautiful and meaningful.

Our story did not end on March 16, 2023. It became a story of carrying love through grief, finding light in the darkest moments, and believing that one day we will hold Myla in our arms again.

Until that day, we carry her with us—in every heartbeat, every family celebration, every tear, every smile, and every act of love.

Forever loved. Forever remembered. Forever our precious daughter. Forever M little sister. Forever part of our family.
