Max Julius Wendt was born September 4, 1895, in New York, the son of German immigrants Max and Elizabeth Wendt. Other children in the family were Henry, Hermon and Eva. From 1900 through at least 1942, Max lived in Brooklyn. During the 1920's and 1930's he worked as a longshoreman, a stevedore. Sometime before 1940, Max married a woman named Frances, and the couple made their home at 597 6th Ave. in Brooklyn. In 1942, at the beginning of WWII, Max was required to register for the draft. At that time he was working for Turner A. Blanchard Inc. on State St. in New York City.
Max Julius Wendt died May 10, 1985 at Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center, and was buried on Hart Island.
