On October 7, 2001, an unknown male was found in Queens behind a building near the LIRR train tracks by a friend. The friend reported that he had last seen the male about 3 months prior, and he believed his name to be Juan Velasquez.
Juan had wavy black hair, and he was estimated to have been around 4' 11"(59 inches) tall. He was wearing jeans, boxers, and sneakers, as well as a "Yankees" wrist watch with a white band on his left wrist.
