Lawrence/Laurence Salvatore Riccio was born March 12, 1913, in Brooklyn, New York, the son of Italian immigrants Vincent and Mary (Cimmeruta/Simeratta) Riccio. He had three older brothers: Nicholas born in 1904; Joseph born in 1908; and Anthony Vincent born in 1911. Their father, Vincent, was a barber.
In 1930 the family made their home at 442 14th Street in Brooklyn. All four brothers were still single, living at home, and working. Nicholas was a salesman in a cigar store, Joseph a tobacco shipping clerk, Anthony a deliveryman for a meat market (which likely led to his later career as a butcher), and even the youngest, Lawrence- then only 17 years old, worked as a messenger for a bank.
Lawrence Salvatore Riccio died August 28, 1995, at the Montefiore Medical Center, and was buried on Hart Island. His brother Anthony had died just a few months previous, on May 13, 1995.
