Katie Rath was born Katherine German on June 6th, 1905 in New York. Her parents as listed on her marriage certificate were George German and Theresa Weiland.
She died Sept. 28th, 1997 Flushing Queens, NY and is buried on Hart Island.
On Jan. 3rd 1924 Katherine German married Denis Paul Rath. he was born in Gussing, Hungary. Which fell under German Ruling at that time. He later used his middle name as his first name.
I first found them on the 1925 NY State Census dated June 1, 1925. Paul D. Rath age 21 and Katherine Rath age 20. They resided then at East Ninety Fifth St., NY, NY
The next document I found was Petition for Citizenship for Paul dated May 23, 1929. He lists they have a son Albert born Sept. 12, 1927. They are all then living at 941 Tiffany St., NY, NY.
1940 Federal Census finds them living at 43-60 45th Ave. Queens, NY.
Reviewing the US Public Records Index later in life they lived at 20214 Rocky Hill Road , Bayside, Queens.
I found that Paul D. Rath died in June of 1982. I did not research their son Albert further. I also noted that the Social Security Death Index listed Katies date of birth incorrectly as July 6, 1905. I used the Social Security Application and Claims Index which listed the correct date of June 6, 1905.
I am now happy that Katie Rath has been found again. Rest in Peace.
