Howard Finckh was born in Brooklyn, New York on the 30th of September 1909 to parents Henry Finckh and Elsie Hauschild Finckh. Howard had one sibling, an older brother named Arthur who was born in 1905.
Howard's maternal and paternal grandparents were German immigrants. His father, Henry, was a sign painter who owned his own shop.
In 1921, Arthur Finckh died from respiratory paralysis as a result of contracting polio. Arthur was buried in Evergreen Cemetery in Brooklyn, as was his mother, Elsie, who died in 1929, and his father, Henry, who died in 1941.
In 1940, on his WWII Draft Registration Card, Howard is described as being 6 feet tall, and having brown hair, brown eyes and a light complexion. The card also notes that he has a scar on his chin.
Howard Finckh died at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center on the 7th of March 1986 and was buried on Hart Island on the 4th of June 1986.
