Hello, My name is Helen Mas-Cirrone, and I am one of Hiram Mas sister. Hiram was born and raised in Brooklyn, N.Y. Our parents Enrique and Esther Mas, both born in Puerto Rico and located to Brooklyn. Both of them are deceased. They raised 7 children, 5 girls, 2 boys. Sadly Hiram turned to drugs at a very young age and did get help on and off, but at the end he chose drugs. Unfortunately he became homeless and lived in various parks in Brooklyn and I believe in the city as well. Occasionally HIram would visit one of his sisters in Brooklyn, get coffee, meal, blanket and a few bucks. But all of a sudden he kind of disappeared. My sister stopped hearing from him. I, no longer live in Brooklyn, (in Houston) but always thought about my brother. Wondering where he is? Is he cold? Hungry? I made up for it by feeding homeless people, volunteering at food banks. It was last year that my younger sister send me a text letting me know that Hiram had passed away in 2016! I had seen a documentary about AIDS patients who died were buried at Hart Island, and also heard a mother’s story on radio station of her missing son was buried at Hart Island. So I did a search and this is how I found out Hiram Mas was buried at Hart Island. He was a handsome, smart guy who just couldn’t shake off the drug addiction. He is at peace now. ❤️ ☮️ .
