Herbert Robert Henn was born February 7, 1913, in New York, the son of Albert and Charlotte (Nohdin) Henn. Albert was born in Germany, and Charlotte was a native New Yorker. Herbert had a sister, Lydia, and from 1915 to at least 1940 the family lived in the Bronx, where the father worked as a baker. In 1930 they made their home on Ludlow Ave., and from 1935 to 1940 on Havermeyer Ave. Herbert attended school, completing one year of college.
In 1940 his father Albert had worked his way up to being a foreman in a wholesale bakery, and in a related field, Herbert was working as a salesman for a yeast manufacturing company.
Herbert Henn died November 26, 1990, and was buried on Hart Island.
