Harry Erwin Folhmeister was a US Army veteran who served during World War II.
Fohlmeister entered the Army on November 4th, 1942. Although he had lived in the United States for sixteen years when he joined the Army, he was not yet a U.S. citizen. Fohlmeister’s petition for Naturalization was filed in June, 1943 while at Camp Claiborne, (Camp Claiborne was a U.S. Army military camp during World War II located in Rapides Parish in central Louisiana). At the time of his enlistment he was living on 4th Street in Long Island City, Queens.
Fohlmeister was born Erwin Fohlmeister on December 16th, 1904 in Koenigsberg, Prussia, Germany. He immigrated to the United States when he was 21 years old, on October 23rd, 1926 on the S.S. Arabic.
Fohlmeister passed away on August 25th, 1984 at Hillcrest General Hospital in Flushing, Queens.
