AGE: 31 • Brick


Hans left this earth on December 17, 2001 and joined his brother Eric (1989) in heaven. He was there to welcome his grandfather, Irving VanDuyne (2002) and grandmother Matilda Petrone VanDuyne (2009). Born on February 3, 1970 in South Amboy, NJ he lived most of his life in Ocean County. 


Hans is remembered as bright and witty, with a sense of humor that would always make you laugh. He had a passion for music and spent many hours playing his guitar. His family, whom he loved and cherished, was most important to him. He had many friends as evidenced by their loyalty and tenacity in the quest for his return home.


He is survived by his mother, Ilene VanDuyne, Brick, NJ, his Aunts and Uncles, Marta VanDuyne and Paul Harris, Fredericksburg, VA, Rhonda VanDuyne and Michael Balle, Hazlet, NJ, Irving VanDuyne, St. Louis, MO, and Nick and Aimee VanDuyne, Brick, NJ, and several cousins.


Visiting hours are Tuesday, August 23, 2016, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Colonial Funeral Home, 2170 Highway 88, Brick, NJ. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 am at St. Dominic's Church, Brick, followed by interment at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Toms River, NJ. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, 26 Broadway 14th Floor, New York City, NY 10004 or The Hart Island Project, 8 South Division Street, Peekskill, NY 10566 would be appreciated.
