After several years of research, I finally found the place where my uncle Gerard rests. I have never met him, but his story has always intrigued me. Here is a summary. He was the third in a family of thirteen children and my father, the youngest. My grandparents were French Canadians, however my uncle was born in the United States. In the early 1940s, he left Canada to live in the United States, in New York City more precisely, fleeing Conscription in Canada. His family had few news of him since that time. My father had made some steps in the early 2000s to trace it, but without success. In recent years, thanks to the internet, I have undertaken research to find information about it. Then I learned that he died in 2002. This year (2019) my father, now 84 years old, made the request to me to visit New York for a second time (first time in 1960 during his honeymoon). So, I restarted my search for more information. I finally discovered that he died on July 30, 2002. I then applied, on behalf of my father, to receive his death certificate. We should receive it very soon. As we will be in NYC in the coming weeks, I wanted to find out more information about my uncle. The discovery of this website was providential and wonderful. For my father this is the opportunity to complete the loop. Now we know where my uncle Gerard is resting. Funny fact, on the Hart Island Project website, his name is Gerald Drovin. For many English people, Drouin is not a common name. Rest in peace Gerard Drouin, Pierre's brother.

As I'm French Canadian, please excuse my English.

Thank's

Mario Drouin
