Frank Edward Poley was born in New York City on the 6th of June 1899. The name on Frank's birth certificate reads "Francis Dew Poley," but sometime after 1910 he began using the name, "Frank Edward Poley."

Frank had one sibling, an older brother, George Francis, who was born in 1896 and who died at just 7 months old.  Frank's parents, Ellen (Nellie or Ella) Josephine Redman Poley and George Francis Poley, were both native New Yorkers.

Frank grew up in Brooklyn.  When 19 years old he registered for the WWI Draft.  His draft registration records that he is working for the Remington Arms Metallic Cartridge Co., in Hoboken, New Jersey.

In 1922, Frank married Dorothy Metzger.  Dorothy was born up state, but had moved to New York City and was working as health care provider in a dentist office in Manhattan.  Sadly, after only seven years of marriage, Dorothy died in 1929 at St. Joseph's Hospital in the Bronx.

On his WWII Draft Registration Card in 1942, Frank reports that he works at the Central Railroad in Jersey City, New Jersey.  His mother, Nellie, is listed as next of kin.  Frank is described as being 5 feet 5 inches tall, with blue eyes, gray hair, and having a ruddy complexion.

Frank Edward Poley died on the 21st of September 1985 and was buried on Hart Island on the 20th of November 1985
