Erling Birger Lindseth was born on July 11, 1921 in Oslo, Norway to Olaf and Marie Lindseth.
He began his career aboard ships around 1941-1942 as an FWT, and traveled the world. During the 1950's, his voyages were based out of West Coast shipping ports in the USA and Canada, such as San Francisco, Seattle, Portland and Vancouver. He traveled to international ports such as Kobe, Japan; Pusan, Korea; and Manila, Philippines. He sailed on the Oregon Trader, Jacob Luckenbach, and the Flying Scud.
He was 5'8" and 180 lbs when he was 31 years old.
He became a US citizen via the State of California sometime after 1954.
He died in July 1990 and was buried on Hart Island in August 1990.
