Emanuel Manny Sakow was born August 24, 1922, in New York City, the son of Jacob and Anna C. (Camina) Sakow. Jacob was born in Russia, and Anna in Romania. Other children in the family were Leo/Leon, Margaret/Betty, Benjamin and Marcus. They made their home in the Bronx, first on Ward Ave., then by 1935 on Walton Ave. Their father, Jacob, worked as a jeweler. Emanuel attended school through the eighth grade, and by 1940, at the age of eighteen, he was working as a delivery man for a drug store.
Emanuel Sakow died December 16 , 1990, at the Saint Claire Health System, and was buried on Hart Island.
