Cherry Strother was born 7 May 1944 in Florida to John Peter Strother and Louise Stewart. Her parents married as teenagers. She was the only child of that union. Her father served in the US Air Force, a veteran of World War II, the Korean War and Vietnam. She had two brothers from his later marriages. Her mother died at age 44, when Cherry was 23. Cherry Strother was active in theater, and in 1962, while still in high school, she wrote a letter to the editor clarifying the aims of youth working for peace and defending calls for disarmament by philosopher Bertrand Russell and nuclear geochemist Harrison Scott Brown.
Perhaps she lost touch with her family, as her father's obituary names her as living.
The good life is one inspired by love and guided by knowledge.
Bertrand Russell
Man has it within his power today to create a world in which people the world over can lead free and abundant and even creative lives.
