Albert John McCall was born September 21, 1900, in New York City, the son of Edward and Florence (Keifer) McCall. They lived at 623 Amsterdam Avenue in Manhattan. Sometime before 1910 his father, Edward, died. Florence and Albert moved in with her parents, Philip and Mary Keifer, in their multi-generational family of siblings, in-laws and grandchildren at 345 E. 36th Street. Florence contributed to their support by working as a laundress in a hotel.

By 1920 the family had moved to 226-228 E. 83rd Street in Manhattan. Albert, at the age of 19, was working at a business on Wall Street. Five years later Florence had a better job as a Matron, and had established her own home with her sister and son. Albert's job was described as an office clerk.

On November 4, 1927 Albert applied for a marriage license in Brooklyn. The November 11th issue of the Brooklyn Daily Eagle reported the marriage of Albert to Helen Agnes Tierney, the daughter of William J. and Annie Tierney. They were married at Our Lady of Refuge Church by the Rev. Father O'Donovan. The groom had attended the Holy Name Academy, and the bride the St. John the Baptist School. The bride was attended by her sister Marion. The two sisters both worked as stenographers.

In 1930 Albert and Helen were living at 2715 Avenue G in Brooklyn. At this time Albert was working as a "runner" on the stock exchange.

The couple took a cruise to Bermuda in November of 1932, on the ship Monarch of Bermuda.  They gave their address as 2715 Glenwood Road in Brooklyn.

At the beginning of World War II, Albert was unemployed and living with his mother Florence at 272 Midwood Street in Brooklyn. He was described as being 5' 8" tall, weighed 164 pounds, with brown eyes, brown hair, and a light complexion.

The 1950 census answers some of the questions regarding what happened to the couple. Albert was living at 1140 New York Avenue, Apt 3b, with a marital status of "separated." The head of his household was widowed Margaret Cassidy, who was a registered nurse working at a private hospital. Albert was recorded as her partner, and he worked as a watchman in a city hospital.

Helen, in 1950, was also identified as "separated." She was living with her widowed father and sisters Marion and Ethel, in what was the family home at 2715 Avenue G. Helen and Marion both worked as secretaries.

Albert began receiving Social Security payments on March 18, 1966, at the age of 65. His last residence was in Far Rockaway, Queens.

Albert John McCall died on December 13, 1988 at St. Johns Episcopal Hospital. He was buried January 10, 1989.
