User Registration permits access to the database and forum. Access to the Hart Island Project database requires subscription beginning in May 2011. Small registration fees allow us to maintain the database and continue to add records as they become available. Subscriptions are for two months and are renewable. Please contact the Hart Island Project with questions concerning your subscription.

Please note that this database covers public burials in New York City from 1980 through April 2010 only. Over 50,000 burials are listed in the database. If you are searching for earlier and/or later burial dates you can subscribe and then ask for help with a custom search. Subscriptions are only $15 per month.

The burial records are transcribed from documents provided by the New York City Department of Correction. If you believe your relative is buried on Hart Island and they are not listed in the Hart Island Project database, you can request a search with the New York City Department of Health, Vital Statistics.
